What is it?
Intertrigo and flexure psoriasis are heat related, moisture related, and often aggravated by yeast and bacterial overgrowth.
Symptoms appear as flexure rash in the underarms/ groin area, or under the breasts, or in the fold of the tummy.
What do I NEED to know?
Cortisone/ steroid creams will thin the skin of these delicate areas and cause stretch marks so avoid using 1% hydrocortisone or prescription hydrocortisone for this condition.
Self-Care Guide For Intertrigo/ Flexure Psoriasis
Apply dilute vinegar soaked cotton compresses to these areas for 10-15 minutes. (Mix 2 tablespoons of white vinegar into an 8 ounce glass of water). Then remove compresses and apply a thin disappearing layer of SmartLotion twice daily for two weeks, then taper gradually to use as needed. The application of the lotion must disappear and be dry with no excess moisture. Use a hair blower to dry the area for a minute if needed. Severe cases may require additional treatment from your dermatologist. See your dermatologist for supervision and for Econazole products that work extremely well with SmartLotion. OTC (over the counter) clotrimazole cream or miconazole cream also work very well with SmartLotion. Apply a thin disappearing amount at the same time as the SmartLotion application.
